Hi all -
My youngest daughter (the 4 year old) managed to sleep sideways on her bed last night and knocked over a can of soda that had been on her nightstand from earlier in the day. As is her usual practice, she only drinks a couple of sips, so practically the entire can of soda fell on bitty who was down on the floor (having been kicked off the bed)!
I need washing instructions! I know to remove the head, and wash the body in the washing machine. But do I leave the stuffing in or remove it, and do I place the doll body in a pillowcase first? And how long does it take to air dry once she is washed?
I feel like such a terrible "grandma" right now!

Leaving the stuffing in is fine. Just tie the neck strings up so it wont fall out.

Bitty washes no problem. I spilt soda on one and it was no big deal.
If it got in the eyes this is an occasion where water is the lesser of 2 evils for the eyes. You need to flush them with clean water because soda is corrosive and sticky and will really mess the eye up. You do need to get all the water back out. I used a mini wet /dry vac to vacuum out 90% of it and let it air dry outdoors and face down(so the sockets can drain) for the rest.
If no soda looks to have gotten in the eyes, DON'T flush them because even water risks messing the eyes up.
While you are doing that to the head. The body can be taken care of like Nann said. Just tie up the neck, toss the body whole into a pillowcase , tie that up and wash it like any other clothes.

Ater pulling her neck strings tight to prevent sutffing leakage, you can also tie Bitty into a pillow case for washing.
